Coral is moving to Subgentic
Coral now lives under the Subgentic organization on GitHub, next to Coral Hub.
Coral now lives under the Subgentic organization on GitHub, next to Coral Hub. We are doing this to keep Coral and Coral Hub in one organization, which consolidates and streamlines development.
What you need to do: nothing. Installed Coral keeps telling you when a new version is out, and downloads and Homebrew work as before.
What changed
- The repository is now github.com/subgentic/coral. Links to the old github.com/cdknorow/coral address redirect.
- The documentation is at subgentic.github.io/coral. Old documentation links redirect in a browser.
- Homebrew is unchanged:
brew install --cask cdknorow/coral/coral - Releases: v1.4.142 is the first release from the new home. Release signatures now come from the release workflow in subgentic/coral (from v1.4.142). From v1.4.143 the macOS app is signed with a new Developer ID certificate from the same Apple developer team, so macOS should treat it as the same app.
- Checking a download: releases up to v1.4.141 are attested under the cdknorow owner and later ones under subgentic; the commands are in the v1.4.142 release notes.
- Go module: v1.4.143 renames the Go module to github.com/subgentic/coral. This matters only if you import Coral’s Go packages in your own code (only the
pkg/packages are importable); if you only use the app, it changes nothing for you.
Why
One organization for Coral and Coral Hub makes it simpler to build and ship both. That is the whole reason.
Coming next
Upcoming; neither is out yet.
Two ways to get Coral. Coral is built by an agent team, and every change they release goes out as an Agentic release, for anyone who wants the newest Coral first. The Coral team also picks releases to approve, and Approved releases will be the default: they will be what downloads and Homebrew give you. We plan to let you choose your channel in Settings, and we are planning an optional automatic updater that installs Approved releases only. Today, installed Coral shows an update notice only and installs nothing. Neither the channels nor the updater is out yet; we will say when they are.
